Prepare to hate me. I kinda wrote this after being really tired so sorry for the inevitable typos, grammatical errors, and spelling errors.

Movie Review the Third: Lost

Category: "Thriller" - its not funny but its got lots of exciting stuff

Premise: An airplane carrying a wide variety of people crashes on an uninhabited island in the middle of nowhere. The survivors of the crash struggle to survive while trying to find a way off the island. They quickly discover, however, that the island isn't what it appears to be at first glance. There is a heavy emphasis on character development in this series as opposed to normal TV.

Rating: I don't know what the official rating is but I would rate it as ranging from "morally inappropriate" to "immorality defined"

Goriness: There is very little gore except in 'medical' scenes and other operations. There is, however, a lot of blood. Most of the blood and gore in the first few seasons is not from fighting as much as it is from random injuries.

Language: Nothing outstanding for normal TV. There definitely is cussing and such but its nothing you won't hear just walking to the store to buy food.

Immorality: Each season kinda has its own restrictions as to what it can do, as far as I can see. The first season was pretty much okay except for 'suggestiveness' but beyond that it gets pretty bad. Season two has a TV sex scene with what would probably be classified as 'mild nudity' (I hate this planet). From what I have heard season three is much worse but I have only seen up to episode three of season three and it doesn't seem as bad as season two that conversationally it is pretty perverted.

Additional note - Spirituality: This happens to be the single worst thing about the series. Several supposedly 'christian' characters go around using their post modern "faith power" to save the day and guide their fellow survivors to safety etc. There are also unexplained visions and hallucinations that are used to guide various characters in their character development and personal growth. On many occasions there are spirit guides from dead characters that come to speak with people and guide them into finding something. Sorry if I just totally insulted an aspect of the show that you really liked (I am not apologizing. I am sorry for you).

My opinion: Lost started out really awesome for normal TV with interesting characters that had the appearance of being much deeper and more real than any other TV show that I have ever seen (probably still true). It also had a plot that forced you to keep watching long after you passed the 'just one more episode' that you were planning on watching. Each episode ends with a really annoying cliff hanger that keeps you interested. The island itself is a cool place with lots of neat mysteries that are slowly revealed to make a the intricate plot of the show.

Thats all my nonsense compliments. Now the truth. I wish they had stopped after the first series and somehow found a way to cram the whole plot into 24 episodes rather than continuing as they did. First off, the wonderful characters with all the intricate background stories and cool connections are about as real as twinkies. They each set into a strange stereotype that is completely unrealistic and then they wallow in their stereotype in depression. There were so many times in the series I just wanted to stop because some random character had yet again randomly punched another character in the face because of a completely inhuman emotional swing. Then there is the romance which is even worse..... Its like looking at something that seems real but if you tried putting these people in the real world they just wouldn't be, and if they could, they would probably end up in jail for assault or something.

The main thing that kept me watching, I thought, was the plot, but in the end even that had its irritations. I JUST WANT IT TO END. Each episode they have to discover some other grand mystery and throw in a new plot twist. So many times I just wished they would actually resolve something and really just explain what in the heck is going on. They did, but while they were doing that they somehow managed to make the whole thing even more complex and confusing. The plot has the appearance of moving quickly and jumping around to all sort of interesting discoveries but in reality it ends up moving kind of slowly with the characters discovering nothing more than another mystery.

Then comes their worst crime yet. They take a seemingly cool character like Locke. The dude with a thousand knives and the only one with any sense in him. He seemed to be the only guy in the series to not punch the snot out of someone for something trivial. But no, they couldn't leave me in my happy bliss. They had to turn him into some kind of freak post modern animist christian, official spiritual guide for the lot. Then they had him meet Mr. Eko, confused wannabee catholic that has read the bible a thousand times but somehow managed to miss the basic concept that there are not a thousand roads to heaven. Locke seems to have bad influence on Mr. Eko the only guy that could even make a bad pass at christian on the show and in the end you have two morons.

Well thats it.... I hate Lost, but why am I still watching it? I happen to be stupidly optimistic that the whole thing is going to turn out to be a joke and the series is going to end in a logical and interesting way. In conclusion this is actually a wonderful show for TV and it is highly entertaining. My hope is that if people do watch this show they will atleast not delude themselves into thinking that it is better than other stuff or remotely realistic. The worst would be if someone was trying to get some kind of grand philosophy out of this. Go read a book. (or, for those more visually inclined, go watch an anime)

Movie Review The Second:   Lady in the Water

Catagory: Science Fiction/Fantasy and Thriller

Premise: The entire movie takes place in an apartment building. The main character is the building manager who one day discovers a mysterious girl in his pool. The girl turns out to be something more than what she apears to be, and all of the tenents join together to solve their dilemma.

Rating: Officially PG-13 for some frightening sequences, which I think is actually a very accurate rating (for once). There really isn't all that much thats 'bad' in this movie, but it still shouldn't be seen by younger audiences because it is scary at times.

Goriness/violence: There is basically no real violence or gore in this movie but there are characters who are killed off screen and at one time a character has several fake looking scratches on them.

Language: Nope

Immorality: One of the characters wears very little but nothing is ever shown. There is essentially no reason for this but apparently the directer/writer thought it was important.

My opinion: M. Night's movies are almost a genre in themselves. This movie, however, seemed to be a step away from M. Night's normal way of doing things, which is why, I think, this movie was generally not well liked. This movie seemed to me to be a fairytale. In the end this movie does not make much sense and the plot isn't especially interesting. What is good, however, are the characters. I found the large amount of unrealisticly extreme characters to be very funny and the main reason this movie was really worth watching. In summary: if you are looking for an M. Night movie with an interesting twist, this is not it. However, this movie is still funny and interesting as a movie.

Movie Review The First:   Nacho Libre

Catagory: Comedy (I hope)

Premise: I must warn you that I personally hated this movie. The movie is about a monk working in an orphanage who dreams of becoming a wrestler. He is apparently not allowed to become a wrestler because of his religious beliefs and is forced to keep his dream secret. Unfortunately there is also a more than slightly creapy romance between the main character and a nun. That pretty much sums the whole thing up without 'spoiling' anything.

Rating: In my opinion this movie tries very hard to keep the movie clean and does a good job of it. There is very little in this movie that I found truly objectional (aside from the plot).

Goriness/violence: No gore at all. The wrestling is extremely pathetic and most resembles toddler combat which is why it might actually have influence on them.

Language: There is no cussing or anything at all in this movie that I remember. (I don't really notice anymore)

Immorality: Aside from the fact that the main romance is between a nun and a monk they maintain a much more mature relationship than ones you will see in real life.

My opinion: I hated this movie because it seemed utterly pointless and it seemed to sap the energy out of my body and pull it into a dark oblivion of utter nonsense. I do understand that this movie is apparently popular though and I can see why. The movie is funny at parts in similiar ways to Napoleon Dynamite but different enough that I disliked it. There really isn't much I can say about this movie because I really don't understand it but if you like Napolean Dynamite than you should consider it.

I have decided to make a post. There really isn't anything to say in general and I don't believe in saying something when there is no point (on the internet). Anyhow I  realized that everytime I watch a movie I carefully go through and analyze it afterwards. Therefore I have decided to write reviews of all the movies I watch. I will try to do some with games as well but that seems like it might be harder.

Most likely you will disagree with my opinions on everything because I tend to be highly critical which is why I am going to be writing my reviews in a more informative format than an opinion one.
